Clear Competences
upc cablecom understands leadership orientation as one of the most important company goals with a view towards future potential. Our employees that have leadership roles are supported in a structured and systematic way. The first key step in this direction is the introduction of a competence model.
What is the purpose of the competence model?
In the competence model we summarise the necessary skills, behaviour and attitude. The competences considered cover both job specific capabilities (e.g. education, experience) and personal capabilities (e.g. entrepreneurial thinking). The function specific definition and development of our employees’ competences ensure the long term success of our company.
The competence model is a basis for specific recruitment, general assessment, and to assess the bonus relevant performance of our management. The competence model ensures that the necessary capabilities needed for each employee to fulfil their tasks are taken into consideration.
Which competences are required of me?
The competences are split into 5 areas:
The basic competences encompass the daily work at upc cablecom: e.g flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
Service orientation is top of the priority list, as the customer is always at the centre of our decisions.
In the highly competitive telecommunication market continuous growth is extremely important, which is why we count on entrepreneurial personalities at upc cablecom.
A strong personal impression is necessary in order to bring individual initiatives and motivation to your work.
In the area of interaction and leadership, teamwork within the company is a part of the assessment with regard to our company goals.
This is demonstrated in the diagram below:

For practical reasons we limit ourselves to the nine most relevant competences for each function: a competence set. This varies according to business unit and hierarchy level.
