As of the beginning of April cablecom becomes upc
cablecom. Aside from the new name and logo, amongst others upc cablecom also introduces the first fixed
network flat rate for calls abroad and presents new higher speed bundles.
In a record-beating
attempt, cablecom achieves a hitherto unprecedented Internet speed of 1.37 Gigabits per second – over
a conventional television cable. In doing so cablecom proves that it is already equipped for tomorrow’s
standards.
cablecom becomes the first Swiss Video on Demand provider to launch 3D
content at the beginning of 2011.
2010
Cablecom
released information regarding the new
corporate identity in December and announced that it would be implemented during the first half of 2011.
The new name combines trust and a departure to new shores as well as old strengths and new vigour: upc
cablecom.
Cablecom also launched the DigiCard in May – the first ever option in Switzerland
that allows you to enjoy digital television from cablecom without a set-top box. In relation to this,
cablecom also introduced the new Digital TV portfolio and since then offers a free Internet connection
to every household with a cable connection from cablecom.
Cablecom
introduced the dual logo in May. This updated logo combines the cablecom brand with the logo of the
parent company, UPC in Holland, and will be used until the new corporate identity is ready.
Cablecom
shows the world’s first ever live 3D transmissions: The final round of the Augusta Golf Open and one
of the semi-finals of the French Open tennis tournament.
2009
Cablecom
launches combination
deals.
Cablecom launches first Fiber Power services with speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s.

Tveter appointed as new Managing Director Cablecom.
2008
Cablecom
completes the most ambitious IT project in the history of the company. A new customer administration
system standardises previously separate platforms and brings together all customer data and products
in one system.
With a maximum surfing speed of 25,000 Kbit/s and an upload rate of
2,500 Kbit/s, cablecom provides the fastest Internet connection in Switzerland.
2007
Total
sales exceed the billion mark for the first time.
The company sets new standards
with the launch of high definition television (HDTV). This represents a quantum leap in the television
experience. At the same time Internet TV is launched.
In order to be able to offer
its customers both digital and analogue television, cablecom makes an additional investment of over
100 million CHF in network expansion.
With around 215,000 digital television customers
(as at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2007), there is no sign that the company’s growth in this area
might be slowing down.
2006
In
only 18 months cablecom and UPC Broadband, the European cable network group of Liberty Global Inc.,
double their customer count in the area of digital telephony.
Five times more bandwidth

Liberty
Global Inc. acquires a one hundred per cent share in cablecom.
Cablecom launches
an attractive flat rate for frequent callers.
Cablecom offers the most important
analogue TV channels in digital form too. For the first time over 150 TV and radio stations are available
on a single platform.

A
quarter of a million people surf with hispeed Internet.
A one-stop solution: Cablecom
becomes Switzerland’s first provider of telephony, television and Internet from a single source, thereby
establishing a milestone in the Swiss telecommunications market.
2003
The
largest refinancing transaction in the history of the Swiss economy is concluded. NTL sells cablecom
to a group of banks and private investors (Apollo Management, Goldman Sachs & Co., Tower Brook Capital
Partners).
2001
A
new management team is appointed, and by 2003, has achieved sustained improvement in business operations.
Cablecom makes substantial investments in its infrastructure; the network is made bi-directional,
bandwidth is increased. The foundations are laid for further innovations.
2000
The
previous owners Swisscom, Veba and Siemens sell cablecom to the British-American company NTL.
1999
With
the introduction of its hispeed Internet product, cablecom becomes the first Swiss company to enter
the broadband Internet business and in the same year it launches a digital television service.

Cablecom
acquires the successful Internet service provider SwissOnline.

is created through the merger of various independent cable network operators.
